Today the world is no better off than it was two weeks ago. Shall we hope that Hanukkah and Christmas – though not observed by the vast majority of the people of the world – might give us some respite on the war fronts?
In any case, I will take a Christmas break, so I will not publish a new blogpost on Christmas Day. It means that this is my last blogpost in 2011, and the next one will be published for January 1st, launching the much dramatized year 2012.
Ironically, it was an American general who issued some of the strongest warnings against military power and warfare. In his farewell speech as president of the United States in 1961, 50 years ago, Dwight D. Eisenhower said:
“In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes.”
Eisenhower was undoubtedly one of the wisest presidents the US has ever had. He understood the danger of a dominant military married to big corporations, and he warned against it. Unfortunately, his words has had no effect, and today “the disastrous rise of misplaced power” is a stark reality that plagues and endangers liberties and democratic processes in the entire world, and not least in the United States.
Eisenhower said many wise things worth remembering. Here is another:
“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.”
On 12 November 1984 the UN adopted the following declaration: “Aware that the establishment of a lasting peace on Earth represents the primary condition for the preservation of human civilization and the survival of humankind, recognizing that the maintenance of a peaceful life for peoples is a sacred duty of each state, the General Assembly solemnly proclaims that the peoples of our planet have a sacred right to peace.”
Yet, the US Empire – not to be confounded with the American people – in close collusion with the current government of Israel – not to be in any way confounded with the Jewish people, culture or religion – has wilfully caused a series of totally unnecessary wars resulting in millions of dead and mutilated innocent civilians and the destructions of centuries of human creative endeavors. Why? Because of greed for power and material resources. In order to earn trillions of dollars on the sale of armaments, and on the reconstruction of the destroyed countries.
But those holding the real power behind the curtain have an ulterior, less visible but even more important reason to wage war all over the planet: Its aim is to destroy the present power structures in order to gain full military and political control of the entire world and all its inhabitants. A world with a drastically reduced population. This is what they call the New World Order.
These people now globally control the production facilities and the media, and they own the federal US government, the US congress and the Pentagon plus countless other governments around the world. They are essentially a group of international, mostly Jewish, bankers. To any thinking and feeling person with a minimum of common sense, their values, behavior and goals should give them away as raving lunatics. And they are reckless, ruthless and heartless. Which means they are very dangerous. And we have allowed them to usurp all our power. It´s high time we took it back.
These people are working toward their ambitious goal on many covert levels and in many camouflaged ways, besides wars. One such way has been revealed by economist consultant John Perkins in his book Confessions of an Economic Hitman.
This method has worked its way through most so called developing countries, and it seems it´s now Europe´s turn to suffer the same treatment from the international banking mafia. The method is being highlighted in Europe, as members of the European Union (EU) drown in debt, and financial “technocrats”, who are former Goldman Sachs executives, have taken over the governments of Greece and Italy, as well as the Central European Bank, imposing their neoliberal recipe of “austerity” on the already failing economies. Which includes as a prominent feature the privatization of all national assets and companies.
In practise it means that these assets are sold out at fire sale prices to global corporations owned by the bankers who lent the money, while a sizable “commission” ends up in the pockets of corrupt politicians who authorize these sales and the low prices. That the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) purport to be neutral international agencies on a par with the United Nations, whose only purpose is to help weak economies, shouldn´t deceive anyone. The 187 members have voting powers in direct relation to the money they contribute as members, which means that small and poor countries have no voting power worth mentioning, while the big economies, such as the US and the UK retain a dominating influence over its policies.
Their method is a foolproof way to cause unemployment, poverty, misery, default, and civil unrest. Which in turn will justify increased measures of “security” in the shape of brutal police and military force in the streets. And – hold your breath – maybe even the unselfish help of the US military to quench the revolts and make the country “safe”…Maybe even a “humanitarian” war to protect the new owners of the country´s assets by bombing the violent people who clamor for food and housing…
By the way, the EU is really a creation of the “globalist” lobby to supersede the old-fashioned and unmanageable old European democracies. The trick is to convince the national governments that they have to “democratically” give up their sovereignty to the higher level of democracy as members of the European Union, which in practice means a dramatically increased and concentrated power for the unelected central bureaucracy, which is loyal to the globalist bankers.
Amazingly, the governments of the developed countries of Europe seem to have learnt nothing from the fate of so many developing countries, who were enticed and manipulated into accepting big credits from the World Bank or the International Monetary Fund to be spent on vast infrastucture and other projects under contracts with US companies.
Just as planned, the day would come when the debtors could not service their loans, so they had to give up more assets in payment of their debt, increase taxes and reduce social benefits. And borrow new money to pay off the old debts. This makes a country and its people a debt slave. With a further impoverished and disgruntled population as the result.
The tremendous crisis in Argentina in 2001 was the result of this scenario. In addition to the privatization with its drastic slimming down of staff, the borders were suddenly opened to free influx of cheap imports, leading to bankruptcy for thousands of companies, whose employees found themselves in the street without anything, courtesy of President Menem, his finance minister Cavallo and the “Chicago Boys”.
Nearly half the Argentine workforce lost their jobs, and the existing social safety nets were grossly inadequate to cope with the situation. The result was that a third of the population were starving and living under the subsistence level, while all public assets and services had been privatized and belonged to foreign companies. including water, mail, and even the collection of government taxes! And this in a country that is said to grow enough food to feed many times its own population.
John Perkins worked for over ten years to deceitfully impose this agenda on a number of developing countries. Then he had a change of heart, jumped ship and wrote the book Confessions of an Economic Hitman. I quote him:
“I am certain that when enough of us become aware of how we are being exploited by the economic engine that creates an insatiable appetite for the world’s resources, and results in systems that foster slavery, we will no longer tolerate it. We will reassess our role in a world where a few swim in riches and the majority drown in poverty, pollution, and violence. We will commit ourselves to navigating a course toward compassion, democracy, and social justice for all. Admitting to a problem is the first step toward finding a solution.”
